MUSTANGWORLD
HELP ! Written by Mustangworld.
HELP TOPICS: Interactive Games, Shockwave and Streaming Audio. Mustangworld JAVA News Window. Mustangworld.com takes forever to load on my computer. Mustangworld.com looks "weird" on my computer.
Interactive Games, Shockwave and Streaming audio. To be able to view
the games and other interactive features (throughout mustangworld) you
need to be using Netscape navigator 2.0 (or higher) OR Microsoft Internet
Explorer 3.0 (or higher) with the Shockwave plug-in installed. If you
have an old version of Shockwave then now may be the time to upgrade to
version 7 or later. You will need version 6 or later to hear streaming
audio. Make sure you have the latest version of Shockwave (Version 7 at time of this writing). Having the latest version eliminates a ton of problems! Streaming audio is
a feature supported by Shockwave as well. You can hear sound AS it downloads.
The problem is when several thousand browsers are accessing the same file
on our server at the same time, then sound may "skip". If this happens
then you can just wait for the whole file to download (usually a small
file >300k) and then hit the play button on our controller again. The
streaming audio will then play from your local hard disk with no skips. - The "wheel"
on the newer mouse devices may cause IE 4.0 to crash. You can disable
it if you are getting crashes like the computer freezing and when you
exit or use IE and you hear beeps or clicks when moving the mouse, this
is the mouse driver hanging your system. Happens more often when multi
tasking.
Mustangworld JAVA News Window. The Mustangworld news window is no longer a JAVA application. Anyone can view it with any browser now.
The audio files on Mustangworld are in .WAV format (except for the radio show which is in Shockwave format see above). this sound format is supported on Windows and Mac platforms as well as many unix platforms. To hear a sound click on the link to it. You may be prompted to download it. After the sound file downloads then you can play the file from your hard disk. Most browsers will play back the file in a "window" or another page. Just wait for the soundfile to download and press the play button.
Sometimes we will have movies available for viewing on the website. When we do these files will most likely be in .MOV format which is supported by Windows and MAC platforms. You will need to download Quicktime for Windows to view these files on a PC. Most PC systems sold today have Quicktime already installed. If you need to get it you can download it at : www.quicktime.apple.com We may also have the movie available in several formats including mpeg 1 format.
Mustangworld.com takes forever to load on my computer. We "might" take a bit longer (compared to a text based page) because we want to give you a great website. Mustangworld is a "high graphics" content site. We believe it's faster to download a simple picture than to download a thousand worlds. We didn't want to create another Mustang website with little or no graphics, though we do love visiting ALL types of Mustang related sites. We wanted to create something "cool" and we're still working on it. Your first visit to Mustangworld will take longer then repeat visits, where most graphic files are loaded from your local browser's cache. We optimize the site for 28.8Kbps modem users. If you are using a 14.4Kbps or slower modem my recommendation would be to purchase a faster modem. You can purchase a 33.6-56k modem today for as little as $65. It will improve your entire web surfing experience, not just a visit to Mustangworld. Mustangworld.com is located on a server with a T1 backbone. At times we may experience an "overload" of hits or our service provider may be doing maintenance. It may also be that our server "crashed" or a power failure. It may be bright and sunny where you are, but over here we may be experiencing the "wrath of god" type rain / thunder and flooding. Our service provider is fast at solving any problems that might occur. We also strive to "shave" extra bandwidth off of anything we can.
Mustangworld.com looks "weird" on my computer. We test Mustangworld with: Netscape, Internet Explorer, Windows, Macintosh and with a SGI unix system. We are a "no-frames" site, BUT our site includes many tables. If your browser does not support tables (most all do) then Mustangworld will look worse than a fresh pile of horse plucky. Make sure you are using a browser that supports tables, gif's and jpeg's. Our main web development focus is with Netscape and Internet Explorer. WebTV users view the exact same site in a different format. Most of the pages here can also be viewed with Windows CE devices.
We try
to update Mustangworld as often as we can. Sometimes every day, sometimes
less. The pinup pic usually updates weekly, other sections every 2-3 weeks.
We are a bunch of Mustang enthusiasts, graphic artists, computer programmers,
musicians, video editors and producers at MoLLER DiGITAL that use their
equipment to produce Mustangworld.com on our own. We take trips to Vegas
and lose money like everyone else. All of the 7 1/2 people associated
with creating Mustangworld drive and race Mustangs...everyone (just coincidence,
i guess). So if you don't see parts of the site updating that frequently
it's because the person responsible for that section is "loathing" around
doing other (probably stupid) things.
